Since 1999, Deb Colburn of NOMAD and Julia Zagar of the "Eyes Gallery" of Philadelphia have combined their 50+ years of expert experience, knowledge and love for the art and culture of Mexico to share with fellow travelers. Traveling in a small group, you'll get to experience this country as only we know it - combining art, culture, shopping and lots of fun! We visit all the best places, including artisans in their homes, small villages, regional fiestas, off-beat museums and markets as well as tour archaeological sites. You'll get to take part in cooking classes, meet with experts in various fields of anthropology and much more.

Deb and Julia will be traveling in 2017 to Colombia’s Caribbean Coast, in collaboration with arts and crafts expert Stephanie Schneiderman.
They’ll be embarking on 10 days of travel, starting in the colonial city of Cartagena and winding our way along the beautiful coast to the desert beach of Riohacha and on to the other worldly Guajira Peninsula where the desert meets the ocean.
Days will be spent visiting craft villages, markets, museums, and learning firsthand the natural and cultural diversity of this region.

Some of the highlights include the Gold Museum, Artesanias de Colombia, Barranquilla, Museo de Caribe, special visits to many villages, artisans and craft co-ops including the Wayuu people of the famed “Mochila” crochet bags.
