   How About Some Color!?

Get out of that seasonal slump in style!

It’s been very gloomy lately, and we are thinking it’s definitely time to bring some color back into our closets. Our Spring collection can help you do just that.

Julia is calling for some sunshine with Red Engine’s cropped yellow denim pant, sparkly Melissa flats, and the Trapeze Prairie Jacket by Free People… an embroidered light-weight overcoat perfect for any Nomad.

Dip into the store and try our favorite items on this season’s palette!

   The Romance of Mexico

… has just arrived at NOMAD!

Deb is recently back from her viaje a México, meaning it’s time for us to share a taste of her travels with you. Alongside experiencing the culture, traditions, and feminine mystique of Mexico City & Oaxaca, she handpicked quite a few gems along the way, including a wonderful selection of silver earrings inspired by the classic Mexican filigree style. These earrings are handmade by the master craftsmen of Mexico, who embrace a bright palette of semi-precious gemstones (coral, turquoise, pearl) & vintage glass.

These pieces are lightweight, maintain great movement, and are a staple ingredient to any Mexican beauty’s jewelry box. Make them a part of yours, as well!

ace & jig, here at last!

We knew this moment was coming…

The Spring 2013 collection of ace & jig has just arrived at NOMAD, giving us all cravings for sunshine and a little bit of wanderlust.

Inspired by ethnic textiles and antique textures, ace & jig is the ideal storybook line of clothing. The collection consists of one yarn-dyed, woven fabric that forever maintains a single constant: stripes! But each piece has its own variation with its multitude of textures, reversed patterns, and pops of saturated color.

If you’re looking for a seasonless (and effortless!) addition to your wardrobe, ace & jig is the perfect medium. Simply throw on a piece with ease and let the fabric speak for itself!

   Spotlight: Lauren Wolf Jewelry

Love is in the air at Nomad…

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, we’re sure that many of you are making wish-lists and gift-lists to pass along to that special someone, even if that special someone is your self! So in spirit of the sparks and hearts, we thought it most appropriate to put one of our favorite jewelry designers in the spotlight! And what better way to do that than with this brilliant diamond ring?

We just received the latest pieces from Lauren Wolf, an artist who began studying jewelry in the mountains of Mexico and currently works out of her studio in Oakland, CA. Each piece is inspired by her travels around the globe, and the most recent collection exhibits her organic play on geometrics: pyramid stud earrings, stringray claw earrings with druzy agate, a rose gold heart necklace, and the featured ring, a rose-cut diamond set in an 18k rose gold band.

Steve Jobs

   The Apple of Nomad’s Eye

El Día de los Muertos is just around the corner… and though November 2nd may seem far away, it’s never too early to start celebrating those important to us who have passed.

We are fortunate enough to be hosting world-renowned papier-mâché artist from Mexico City, Joel García, for the month of October! Joel began creating calaveras and alebrijes in his early youth, has mastered the traditional craft of papier-mâché over the years, and to our advantage, has introduced the art form to respectful eyes worldwide.

He created this specific Day of the Dead figurine in honor of Steve Jobs and his outstanding legacy.

   Danger Dogs!

Hand-painted signboards from Nepal!

Nomad loves folk art with a cause. Traditional Nepali sign painters have found themselves out of jobs due to the increasing use of digitally printed, mass-produced signs. To keep the art from extinction, the Nepal Art Dogs project aims to give these painters work. Each sign purchased will give commission to the truly fine artists of the Himalayas.

These Fair Trade signboards are hand-painted using synthetic enamel on recycled metal, making them indoor and outdoor friendly. Stop by and check out the existing signs in Nomad’s window display!
